Even though summer is coming to a close, it doesn’t mean that vacation season is over. And who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? This fall, consider taking your office on the road with one of these remote work-friendly vacations both at home and abroad.
Portland, Maine, USA
It only feels natural to kick off our fall vacation list with a New England destination. Portland, Maine, is the quintessential fall vacation spot, even when you’re working remotely. In fact, it was recently named one of the top ten global destinations for remote workers, according to Remote.com.
So, if you’re looking to catch some prime fall foliage viewing in between meetings, followed by an evening exploring Old Port, Portland, you’ll find plenty to do this fall in this picturesque town.
Guadalajara, Mexico
As the temperatures start to drop at home, you can chase the warm weather by packing up your laptop and heading south. There are many remote-friendly destinations worth visiting in Mexico, though Guadalajara in one city you might want to consider visiting this fall.
With plenty of co-working spaces in the city, you’ll have no trouble finding reliable internet to get your work done during the week. Then, on a free day, you can take a day trip to nearby charming cities like Tequila or Ajijic. Or, you can find plenty to do staying in the city and enjoying its rich character and delicious cuisine.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Go even further south, and you can enjoy the changing of the seasons in Buenos Aires, Argentina. But, because it’s located in the Southern hemisphere, you’ll actually arrive right in time for their spring!
And, even though you might be far from home, the city is in the UTC-3:00 time zone, putting it only one hour ahead of the Eastern Time Zone in the U.S. This is highly convenient if you need to align your schedule with your team back home.
Spend any time in the city, and you’ll realize why they call it “The Paris of the South”, with its gorgeous European-style architecture, vibrant cafe scene, and wide boulevards giving it a unique feel that you won’t find in most other South American cities.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Back stateside, another remote-friendly destination to visit this fall is in the Land of Enchantment. Santa Fe, New Mexico is known for its rich artistic culture and stunning natural beauty, making it an ideal setting for remote work when you need a change of scenery.
Visit a local cafe to set up shop for the day, then enjoy an evening hike after work with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as your backdrop.
Asheville, North Carolina
To round out our list, Asheville, North Carolina, makes a fantastic fall destination for remote workers. With a seemingly endless list of local coworking spaces and cafes with fast internet speeds, it’s easy to stay productive during your regular work schedule.
Then, after hours, you can take a scenic drive or hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains, visit the River Arts District to get your creative fix, or treat your tastebuds to one of the town’s many local eateries and craft breweries to wind down in the evening.
